After some heavy work over the last few days my back rebelled on Tuesday so I rested completely. Today feeling much better I applied the root killer to the fruit bushes. The method for trunks and roots under 6" across is to mix a satchet with a litre of water and spray in over the plants. I have no spare sprays at the moment so I improvised with an empty milk carton and a spare lid. I punch small holes in one lid and sprayed the plants then put on the intact lid to keep thind watertight. I have half left for when I start the other bushes.
Max had the idea of painting plain yogurt on to them.I have used this method before and it does work but there is a snag. I now have two cats that are a great help in the garden and follow me out there when I go and they are crazy about yogurt plain or otherwise. They would lick it off faster than I could apply it.
The stuff I used is child and pet safe after an hour or so and doesn't damage the soil so I am happy with that.
