Now I don't live anywhere near a desert but I do live only about 2 miles from loads of sand, so I'm able to provide quite a few pictures for you.

So here we go..........

Now the sand in Instow which is a small village on the joining of the two rivers, Taw and Torridge has lots of sand, even sand dunes. The holiday makers love swimming here and so do yachtsmen.........

The River Taw has a few beaches along its banks which is a haven for wild fowl...............

The mouth of the two rivers go into the Atlantic Ocean, and the beach at Westward Ho! which is about 2 or 3 miles from me is gorgeous. There is 3 miles of golden sand topped off with a pebble ridge to protect the burrows at Northam..............

There is quite a high tidal reach here in North Devon - which means the tide goes out about a mile and a half from the pebble ridge. So it's a long walk if you want a swim when it' s low tide!!!!!

Twice a year we have Spring and Neap tides which is when the tide actually goes out almost 2 miles and when it comes in, it comes up quite high up the pebble ridge.

When it does go right out, sometimes the petrified forest is visible and that is something else to see..

The sand around there when the tide has just gone out, leaves lovely patterns in the sand.........
