the 'silence' is a young woman

Tranquillity

A wood opens up in front of me
along a small path.

Suddenly – very gently -
someone is walking beside me.
« Who are you and where do you come from? »
I ask, surprised.

« I am TRANQUILLITY »
she says, smiling.
« I come from a different country
faraway from yours »

« And where are you headed? » I asked quietly
« I want to see you - or -
if you prefer
I would like to see you »
« And why me in particular »
« I can tell you that quite easily »
she answered gently

« You live in a very loud place
the people yell loudly
the machines screech loudly
even pictures scream loudly «

« You are right- it really is like that »
I say, quietly
« Now you see – that’s why I came to see you »

For a while, neither one of us says anything,
her compassion is touching.

« Many people feel like this » I say
« the noise makes them suffer
they talk incessantly
they no longer understand each other.

If you came to see me »
- I continue to ask cautiously -
? « how will that happen -
will you enter into my being? »

« That won’t work » she answered
« I am too big to fit into you »

« Then it’s all in vain »
I say sadly.

« No - no – nothing is in vain - because -
I will open myself to you »

Body and soul and spirit
merge with the silence
