I am starting to look for a new home.
I will be backing up my stuff here from today.
Results of my investigations to follow ...
so far, almost everything looks like a fl****r clone !
Updates - 5th December 2016 ...
Tried 23hq --- www.23hq.com/StoneRoad2016/album/list
OK, but not as functional as here and I'm not convinced about security.
Tried 500pix
https://500px.com/stoneroad
looks like a fl888r clone and not fun to use.
will have a look at smugmug and zenfolio tomorrow
but they also look like f&&&&r clones.
I still/used to have an a/c at f****r, but can't access it at the moment - their (un-) help / support system is currently ignoring me.

Smugmug is a great tool, but there are no groups and so very little sense of community.
500px is aimed at people wanting showcase their 'best' photos, Groups are possible although you have less control than here and the user interface can be challenging.
Fotoblur feels good to use, but free accounts have restrictions on both the size and the dimensions of photos uploaded. it's unclear if these restrictions are removed for paying members.
23 is proving popular for many, but it doesn't feel as good to use as some of the others, photos can be downloaded unless you get your settings absolutely right and there are many glitches.
Flickr ... I hate the interface and it is demanding for all but the fastest of broadband connections.
Blipfoto is a joy to use, has a great sense of community and is operated as a non-profit organisation by volunteers. However, it has no groups and is really about people uploading a single shot per day a bit like a rolling 365 challenge.
Cluster is great if you want a private group just for sharing photos. Only people you give the link to can join, but discussions are restricted to the comments you make within the stream and on individual photos.
Photocrowd really is for people that are into competitions, but that said it does allow you to get great feedback on your work.
Hope that helps somewhat Sara! :)
If The Worst Happens ...
StoneRoad2013 club has replied to autofantasia clubIpernity ticks almost all the boxes for me, so I want and need Ip to continue.
I really hope that the potential investor / buyer that Audrey mentioned and Christophe implied in their blogs turns out to be the one of our dreams. Or they and the team take up the ideas that you and the "saving IP" group (William Sutherland) produced.
However, this does mean that there will be a lot of people looking for a new home for their photos so perhaps this will present an opportunity for those of us who are trying to save ipernity to exploit?
Here's the full announcement as posted on Facebook:
Fotoblur To Close ...
Thanks to Roger Dodger for initially drawing this to my attention! :)

I remain confident and optimistic there will be a successful restructuring of the Ipernity platform. Because of this, I remain active commenting, moderating in groups requiring this activity and recently posted an article that took time and research, not to mention getting some of my photos I took over the last 10 years and putting them together to present in the article. I would not put in this time and effort if I thought the platform would shut down and everything would be lost.
It is my strong belief that the new Ipernity will be a vibrant and viable platform with a bright, long-term stable future with a loyal membership base ensuring a stronger and more viable platform.
Update from William Sutherland. (posted 10 March 2017)
