With a target of $25,000 in "two weeks" - this is to secure the platform whilst the takeover project is planned and achieved.

"New Perspectives"
quote snipped
< << With the help of several community members, especially Claus-Peter, Paul (autofantasia), Eric Desjours, and, William Sutherland, the idea that ipernity could be managed by the community has made its way and seems to be the most realistic solution.
We have postponed the date of closing to late February to allow us more time to study this perspective.>>>

Proposals for Ipernity Saving ....
As of 2100hrs on 12th January 2017 - This group has membership of approximately 427 - and several others who have joined but left again, or had reached their groups limit.
.
A point - in some (many) volunteer organisations there is an unwritten 10% rule - that is; the percentage of members willing, in theory, to do something to help progress - such as answer appeals for funding.
Of that 10%, there is a smaller group, in practice, have or offer useful skills or actual activity to achieve that progress.
Something which I have observed myself, as I take all three positions, it depends on the situation. In the case of saving Ipernity, I want to save it and all I can offer is funding ...

The prospect of Ipernity "closing shortly" fills me with dismay. (See IP blog for 1st December 2016)
I've asked the Team how many more "annual club memberships" they would need to keep going ... (For Info: My Ticket no is 37508)
If this a "reasonable" number then, maybe, we - the members - could help.
For example, my current sub expires in mid September 2017, and I would be willing to pay more than the £35 expected to renew for the following two years.
Perhaps some of the current *free* members would consider taking out a subscription if this would help maintain this site, at least in the short term, whilst the Team continue looking for a longer term partner.
I note that their recent attempt has failed, but surely the influx of ex-panoramio refugees has meant *some* additional subscriptions ...)
I really don't wasn't the hassle of moving home again. I've probably got twice the number of images I had when I decamped from f*****r in May 2013. Plus all the album commentaries, although I'm going to save those as "documents" within a short period of time.

Ip did run for several months about a year ago with minimal visible input from the team. So if the servers can work on that same basis ie subscriptions / adverts can cover the hosting costs for a while, I see no need for a shutdown.

So, how much more cash is needed ?
- could the free members be asked for a contribution eg the three months trials
- how many new full year members are needed ? double, three times, four times ?
- how about asking club members directly to recruit ?
- how about "crowd-funding" or asking for donations as Wikipedia does ?
- or do we need to reduce file sizes for uploads and delete scrap images ?
- or delete unused / unvisited / empty accounts (this would need monitoring as there are some accounts that the user has died, but the account is still visited)
- how do we increase the value of ads to you (is it Ip gets paid per click on the advert ?)

Well, I'm not alone is being willing to pay more for the privilege of being a member here.
If they need double the current income to pay for just one developer ...
.
However, I like the site the way it is, I certainly don't want it "developed" into yet another fl***r clone.
.
The current site would need maintenance, bug repairs, perhaps some new features (like statistics, having albums in more than one folder) but it is what we want, otherwise we would not be here !

Good morning/afternoon,
We are still in discussions with Ipernity S.A. re: the future of this site and its transfer. Negotiations are ongoing to protect the best interests of the members. At the same time we are investigating crowdfunding options so we can take the next step when negotiations are concluded.

I remain confident and optimistic there will be a successful restructuring of the Ipernity platform. Because of this, I remain active commenting, moderating in groups requiring this activity and recently posted an article that took time and research, not to mention getting some of my photos I took over the last 10 years and putting them together to present in the article. I would not put in this time and effort if I thought the platform would shut down and everything would be lost.
It is my strong belief that the new Ipernity will be a vibrant and viable platform with a bright, long-term stable future with a loyal membership base ensuring a stronger and more viable platform.
Update from William Sutherland. (posted 10 March 2017)
