After a few days being battered by wind and rain, this morning the ship is becalmed, though for how long remains to be seen. The rain was so heavy on Sunday morning that it woke me up before 4am. I didn’t really get back to sleep, and just drifted on the edge of consciousness listening to the rain. After popping out for some last minute groceries, I decided I’d rearrange my cabin. Due to a large window with a radiator underneath, a built in cupboard which I suspect used to hold the hot water tank, and lack of clear wall space, all I can do is turn my bed around 90 degrees. It’s not a big room. It gave me a chance to thoroughly vacuum underneath and behind furniture, and I like it better with the bed head on the opposite wall to the neighbour. Job done. Today I might do similar to my son’s cabin assuming he’ll let me in there to clean lol.
Speaking of the cabin boy, he decided over the weekend that he’d like to try some sushi. I’ve tried it, and liked it whilst eating it, but didn’t like the taste afterwards that seemed to linger for hours. I bought him a small tray of it, and tentatively watched him eat it. His face was priceless! As I suspected, he didn’t like it one bit. It’s very popular and a colleague eats it regularly, and my niece loves it. Personally I can’t understand why...
My friend has been away with a group of visually impaired bowlers. They decided to skip the country and set sail for England for a few days; it’s not that far. He asked me to go with them, however the itinerary didn’t appeal, they were going to be away too many nights, and back when I had to make the decision for hotel bookings, the cabin boy was going through a rough time so I declined. With the pre-election hysteria reaching a crescendo, and now the ‘royal’ baby, I started to wish I’d gone too; there’s just no escaping it! He’s on his way back today and at least he and the dog should have a dry journey though I don’t like to travel anywhere on a bank holiday.
Over the weekend I popped into B&M – cheap place for home ‘stuff’ and bought some packs of bamboo hoops for my fruit bushes to cling to. They were too big for the conveyor belt, so I held them and put a £5 note on the belt. The till assistant removed the ‘next customer’ sign and brought forward the items from the customer behind me. I told her ‘just these items please’ and pointing to the items she’d just brought forward, said ‘those aren’t mine.’ She replied ‘no, that’s the next customer sign and it belongs to the shop.’ True! Rolls eyes...
I love a 3 day weekend. Enjoy the rest of yours

Sushi - Sushi for some weird reason is more popular in the west than it is in Japan where less than half, about 49% of the population admit to liking it, or better still eating eat if served due to their Polite manners.
Enjoy your week Fran.
No, I wouldn't fancy or eat raw ham either.
It's good to see that Wales is holding up the tradition of barmy folk working in shops
No news on the interview so I guess he didn't get the job. They only asked him 3 questions. I'm guessing he's overqualified for what they wanted.
I think we'll have the election autopsy for quite a few days yet.
