Last week I had 3 days off work, on top of my usual 2. The weather was drab and no use for anything outdoor related, though we did have one dry day during which I took apart the patio table and disposed of it. We never sit outside; the garden is too small and noisy too with road noise and the related pollution from said road. It’s better than no garden at all, but not by much. I did a lot of tidying up in the house and kept on top of laundry as we were expecting a visit from the potential buyers and the agent.
The day of the visit was dry at least, and my son was able to take the dog out for the duration. Their visit was ostensibly to see what work needs to be undertaken prior to transferring us to their system, though because of the distance between us, they are considering keeping our agent as it will be useful for local repairs and so on. I hope they do; better the devil you know. Again, they seemed pleased at how clean and tidy the house is, pleased that I’m in employment, and they seemed genuinely nice.
We discussed the bond deposit I have with the agent, and the pet payment, and how this will work on transfer in case they don’t keep our agents. They also mentioned that they’d discuss any rent increases with us prior to having a new contract. We haven’t had a rent rise in the 3 years we’ve been here, so I guess one is inevitable though if they raise it too much, we’ll simply stay with our current agent and ask them to assist us finding a new property. The biggest obstacle in renting anywhere new will be the dog as an awful lot of landlords will not take pets, especially dogs. For a nation of pet owners, landlords are incredibly reluctant to have pet owners in their properties.
I’m hopeful that all will go well. We’ve never been late with the rent let alone missed a payment despite all that’s gone on this past 18 months, the house always passes inspections with no issues, and we’re good tenants; no noise complaints, no issues, and we don’t bug them much for repairs.
Of course, if I won a significant amount of money, I’m out of here like a shot lol. I have had the offer of the use of a property back in Wales, and a job too, but so far, I’ve declined. My son has no intention of moving back to Wales as there are no career prospects there in his chosen field and he doesn’t like Wales much despite being born there. Until he’s financially independent, we’re entrenched here, as at least I have a job. Once he leaves home under his own steam, who knows? I just may move back there depending on how financially viable it might be, and if I want the job offered; a lot of work, and potential hassle, which is why I’ve declined so far; I’m too old for hassle LMAO
Well, so far, the predicted ‘heat wave’ didn’t materialise in this area, and I’m sat here in a fleecy! I don’t want it too hot, but a little sunshine wouldn’t go amiss.
Take care, have a good week.

Lately, I can’t help but notice how standards are slipping. One day recently we had a male customer,…

Another heat wave started here today. Not too bad just several days around 30 or so. Saturday should see a good drop in those temps.
Hoping any rent increase won't be too much. If it is, we'll have to see if a move will offset that, or we just suck it up and pay more.
Not sleeping well; I'm anxious...
Good luck on the housing front I know it can be a pain in the butt
Such things are very stressful.
Like you, I don't understand the anti-pet thing in a nation of supposedly animal lovers. Although there are a lot of people who would not take care with damage and "waste products" which mean the deposits probably wouldn't cover doing the place up for the next inhabitants.
Perhaps references and extra deposits are the way forward [but I know the latter are extortionate enough already].
Hope your weather is better today - we had a sit out in the sun day yesterday, which hasn't lasted. Today is much cooler and full cloud cover, it has stayed dry so far. Hope that continues as I have some outside work planned for tomorrow - hope that doesn't jinx things !
Keep Safe !
The weather is dry, though very cloudy here and not that warm.
Hope it stays dry for you.
