My son beat me today, and I couldn’t be prouder.
Many years ago, my sister went to university; she was the first in our family to go, and she passed with a 2:2 (Hons) which is a good average grade.
A few years later, I too went as a (very) mature student and passed with a 2:1 (Hons) which is slightly better, much to her chagrin at the time.
My son is the third person in our extended family to attend university, and today he received his final degree classification: A First! With Hons. You can’t get higher and I’m so proud of him!
He was hoping for a First, though had almost resigned himself to a 2:1, same as me. This has really given him a boost and though he doesn’t say anything, I know he’s really bummed that the university has cancelled all graduation ceremonies for this year.
So, I’m a really proud Mum. I just hope he can get a job soon. It will boost his confidence no end, especially in these unprecedented times.

It's a real shame that none of his group will be meeting to celebrate though with this virus and uni closing, many have already gone home. No ceremony either which is awful I think as I thoroughly enjoyed mine.
Great that your son has a job as well as his degree now. My son is looking though isn't optimistic at all in this climate.
A First(Hons) will always be something special.
My degree was nothing special, I'm more proud of my post-grad librarianship qualifications, even if I'm not actually working as a librarian these days ...
