After what seems like ages, we’ve finally had some sunshine and a little dry weather in my part of Wales. It’s rained every single day, some days all day, until Thursday afternoon when we had a few hours of watery sunshine. Friday was a nice day too, and Saturday is shaping up well so far. Mind you, the rain is set to return on Sunday. Deep joy!
On Monday I visited my sister for a couple of hours, then went and had lunch with my friend/landlord. It was nice to catch up with him, and we had a nice lunch though the service was slow. We had a good discussion about mortgages and he’s decided he’s happy with the status quo for now. I’ve been looking too, and was worried I’d have to move as I don’t think I can afford a mortgage at this time. We’ll need to visit this again in 5 years’ time for reasons I can’t go in to. He seemed in reasonable health but he’s worried about how forgetful he is. I had to laugh, and told him that my son regularly has to remind me what I was saying, or to remind me of a word I need. My youngest sister hates it when someone does that to her, but I’m grateful for the nudge.
Tuesday we waited in for my son’s new bed and what fun that was. I naively thought they would deliver and build it, but no, I had to build it. It needed the ‘feet’ putting on, and the headboard but they hadn’t pre-drilled the holes very well so that was a game. We got there in the end and he loves his new bed so that’s all right.
Wednesday I had to manhandle his old mattress to the dump, and also a medium sized wicker chest of drawers. Between them, they filled the car so I went on my own. It was raining and the man at the dump was not coming out of his cabin so I struggled to get it all back out of my car and into the skips. When I pack a car, I pack it! I have a couple of good bruises for my troubles, but all in all it was a success. Next week the council will take away the bed frame. I have to pay, hence the trip to the dump for things that would fit in the car. Afterwards I did a little shopping so it was a useful trip.
Thursday I took my friend to a farmer’s market and what a waste of time that was. Neither of us spent a single penny. A lot of stall holders simply didn’t show up, and I guess the weather put them off. A few stalls had no prices displayed which isn’t legal I’m sure. We bought a few groceries in the supermarket then I took him home; all in all not a great day.
Friday my son had an Induction day at college. I dropped him off then went and mooched around a local out of town shopping area. I bought some much needed new trainers, and generally just wandered around the shops. I contemplated having a coffee, and checking out new duvet prices, but went home instead. I’d been home barely an hour when he texted to say that he’d finished, 3 hours earlier than predicted! If I had the coffee, and so on, I could have saved myself a journey. Oh well. The rest of the day was spent cleaning the blinds in the house and cleaning windows. Saturday was more of the same until the smell of bleach started to get to me. Now I’m just enjoying the sun and fresh air…
Have a great weekend. Hopefully the rain will stay away for a little longer.

Yes, many people have had American sickness by borrowing beyond their means and buying on credit. Like the country I live in I find it far better to be debt free so I only have one mortgage to pay, I own all I have.
The Interest here rose a bit but has now gone down again.
Big and heavy junk we can take to the re cycling centre, those without the means ask the local Gov't to collect which they will do once per month per anum which is covered by local Tax, extra loads cost a small fee.
Have a nice Sunday.
Bernie - Yes he's worked out bus routes, and we have a pot of change for buses, but I'll probably take him most mornings if I can. He starts at 9am, and it's only 5 miles by car, but about an hour by bus, and two buses each way. Bit of a drag. I only have my student loan as a debt so not too bad.
John - The chest of drawers was as old as he is lol, and looking quite shabby and one drawer sticking a lot. It was useful but has outlived its usefulness now.
Summer - Fun indeed. I mostly wear them for walking the dog. They're lilac and white. Pretty! lol
Gracie - Yes, bleach is great except for the smell. I had windows open but had to stand outside after a while. I'm going to have an easy day today, just need to pop out for petrol and do some ironing, and that'll be all. A lazy day for me lol
Well today is Bank Holiday Monday and of course it's pouring with rain. Typical!
No doubt the weather will pick in a couple of days and I'll be back in work, and the kids will be back in school. Miserable summer.
