Junior (Leslie) Tucker was first to record "Mr. Telephone Man" (Ray Parker Jr.) on his 1983 self-titled debut LP. Writer Ray Parker Jr. produced both this and the New Edition hit! Junior Tucker lives in his native Jamaica, is a born again Christian and has released a number of Christian reggae albums.
New Edition (Ralph Tresvant, Ricky Bell, Bobby Brown, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe) covered "Mr. Telephone Man" in 1984 for their top ten self-titled second album. The single reached number twelve on the Top One Hundred and topped the R&B chart.
