"Silver Threads and Golden Needles" (Jack Rhodes - Dick Reynolds) was recorded by Wanda Jackson in 1956. According to Wanda she was the first female to put "glamor into country music".
The Springfields (Mary and brother Dion O'Brien aka Dusty and Tom Springfield and Mike Hurst) peaked at number twenty on Billboard in 1962 with "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" from the album of the same name. It's musician Judd Proctor that's playing lead guitar. The Springfields disbanded when Dusty went solo.
