The horses like to stay in the cold water for hours.

A boy in the age of four years already learns to ride the horses. Horses are a central part of Mongolian identity: though some city dwellers no longer learn how to ride, some Mongolians really do learn how to before they can walk. Jockeys are traditionally under 12 and sometimes as young as 4!

Mongolian nomads means of transportation are the horses (and sometimes camels). A child in the age of 4 years already has to learn how to handle and to ride an horse.

In Mongolia, the horses live outdoors all year (at 30°C in summer down to -40°C in winter) and search for food on their own. The mare's milk is processed into the national beverage Airag, and some animals are slaughtered for meat. Other than that, they serve as riding animals, both for the daily work of the nomads and in horse racing.
