This is an early Atkinson Bros. card, with the characteristic vignette, lettering and coloured paper stock. This one is addressed to Miss Mamie Johnson, Essex, Connecticut but it was not stamped or mailed. "Our honeymoon trip. C. + M. Turner"

This was posted to Mrs. A. Workman, Rothsay, Ontario: "Well Mother, are you still in Rothsay. I am always going to write but never get very far with it. We are all well. How is this for Neepawa?" Moorefield and Kelwood split-ring cancels. No publisher indicated.

7140R. The Eastern Townships Bank [reverse]

Address side of the Eastern Townships Bank card. Still with the pre-printed QV stamp, so presumably 3 years old or more at the time of use. Posted to Sampson P. Robins Esq. Jr., #513 Notre Dame St. E., Hochelaga.

A third card (for me) in this early colour litho series by Toronto Lithographing Co. Unlike the others, this is identified with W. R. Adams, Souvenir View Cards, Toronto. Assuming that these were produced in Canada, they may be one of the earliest colour lithograph series of postcards to originate in this country. I would think that Toronto Lithographing Co. would have done its own printing work on all of its cards.

7141. Massey Hall, O. A. C. Guelph.

This was published by Waters Bros., Guelph, Ont. and was posted June 17, 1908 at Tyrrell, Ontario to Miss Margaret Langford, Hollyrood, Ontario: "Tyrrell 14/6/08 I note by the paper you have an excursion to Guelph Tuesday June 23rd. I expect to be there that day, everything permitting would you be at liberty to go I would be pleased to see you. I will meet you at the place marked at 2:30 p.m. + if I am not there at that date please do not wait for me. As conditions allow an instance hoping to see you, Arthur E. R." You can see an "X" on the steps of Massey Hall, which is part of Ontario Agricultural College, now the University of Guelph.

7140. The Eastern Townships Bank

Private Post Card of the Eastern Townships Bank, Sherbrooke, Quebec, with list of branches. Perhaps the branches in western Canada were intended to attract Townshippers who had migrated west for work. The card is postmarked Oct. 29, 1903 at Sherbrooke (see separate image of the other side). Interesting "HOCHELAGA QUE." receiver.
