A group in some sort of ethnic dress. Maybe Masonic, a triangular sash with an "S" in the middle (of some but not all of them). No. 55 in the Charles A. Meyers series. This one was used. Postmarked August 23, 1915 to Miss R. Barr, Box 61, Sudbury, Ont.: "Dear Rosie, Just arrived at Winnipeg 2 clock Monday afternoon. Leaving here 11'clock tonight. Hoping you are well will write soon with love from Alf." Interesting that someone would have bought this card -- which depicts an event nearly two months before -- immediately on arriving in the city. So presumably Meyers had an outlet for the public sale of his postcards at or near one of the train stations. This is a later parade - Feb. 14, 1917. The 1917 poultry show, held at the Industrial Bureau in the background, was a roaring success -- according to the Winnipeg Tribune. Eggs laid during the show were to be donated to the returned soldiers at Deer Lodge, with several dozen having been so collected as of the date of the article (Feb. 15). No. 6 in a series by Charles A. Meyers.

Not sure who these guys were; their sign was blown inward by an unfortunate gust of wind so it's impossible to make out. They are wearing kilts and military uniforms so I imagine that it is a regimental group of some sort. No. 41 in the Meyers series.

Gibson card, posted October 14, 1912 at Carman, Man. to Mrs. Hugh McMartin, Apple Hill P.O., Ont., Box 61. Carman Man. Aug [sic] 13th 1912 - Hello there, just a line from A. i am going out to Mr. Jones to work to-night right north of Billie Cumming first neighbour i was out to Billies to day saw the Boys they are all well. By By write soon address Carman.

Kenmont of Winnipeg card no. 605 "City of Winnipeg Series" Printed on back: The world's largest privately owned railway yards, the Canadian Pacific railway, stretches over 280 miles of track. This incloses terminals in Winnipeg proper as well as suburban branches. The yards are one of the most important marshalling points in Canada. Unused.

Postmarked Bradwardine, January 15, 1909 to Miss Odessa King, Cedar Rapids, Nebraska: "Dear Cousin, I am doing a lot of skating her [sic]. I supos [sic] you are doing a lot there. I am cuting [sic] ice for the town pepal [sic] at $2.00 a load. Gilbert." Prairie Lumber Company Limited sits across the street from the pile of lumber. The taller building near the horse and buggy is the Bank of Hamilton. Looking at this location today, it is hard to believe that any of this ever existed -- goo.gl/maps/4j4p9 At least the old elevator is still there, which is unusual enough in itself.

Rumsey & Co. card, posted October 4, 1912 at Glenboro to Mrs. R. J. Carr, Box 247, Arcola, Sask.: "Dear folks, Here we are yet I am not improving very fast am not sure if we start tonight or Monday. We are very anxious to get home now. Hope you are better and all are well. It is fine weather here, and hope the thrashing is getting on, Mother."

Postmarked at Wakopa, Man., split ring cancel but only half present. Date in 1908. Addressed to Miss Emilie Neuhauser, Otthone P.O., Assa. Dear Emilie:- Just received your card last mail but never received your letter so don't suppose I ever will. Yes we are certainly having a lovely winter. Is Nettie and Freda still going to school. Remember me to them. Will surprise you with letter someday but hope to hear from you again. Lovingly, Alice C." Copp Clark card.

Virden, Manitoba train station, 1970, on the line of the Canadian Pacific Railway. This is the most recent real photo postcard in my collection. The late 1960s automobiles seem strange and out of place as a result.
