As the sun sets, the city comes alive. Looks rather dark and menacing here, but Detroit is an interesting mix of contradictions... not always what you expect.

The shiny glass and steel buildings and the automated, robotic mono-rail "people mover" train made an interesting backdrop for the old sailing craft that was working the evening breezes up the river...

For over 5 km, the city waterfront is a wide pedestrian and parkway... walking lanes, cycling lanes, parks, public art... Once the heat of the day breaks and the evening breezes pick up off the water, it's the place to stroll...
