If my memory serves me right, this was originally a pale brown cardstock sheet and was dyed with two shades of ink.

Folded yapp edge variation. Named after the English 19th century bookseller William Yapp, these types of edges are usually seen in limp leather or vellum bindings. Often the folds overlap all three edges of the book, covering them partially. veterokforbooks.tumblr.com
