The newly born calf is hung up so the fluids can drain out of her lungs and mouth, and within a few minutes she was mooing, and was then lowered into a wheelbarrow and taken to the other newborn calves for colostrum

Eugénie's father Guy is a vet, and despite it being his birthday, he had a scheduled caesarian to perform on a local cow. Belgian Blues cannot give birth naturally, so all calving must be done this way. He had already performed several that day.
