I'll admit that I bought this one simply because of the name. Turns out it has a story to it. "In the north of Belgium everyone knows what a Slurfke is: it is the beer that Eddy Van Noteghem, a main character in the wildly popular television series 'Thuis' ('Home'), is busy brewing with his friends. Now this fictitious beer has been created for and in the real world. The VRT television network asked Castle Brewery Van Honsebrouck to start developing and brewing the Slurfke based on the original recipe from the television series. The name Slurfke means ‘little trunk’."
Slurfke is a robust, artisan, dark degustation beer of the dubbel type. "Roast malts account for its dark colour and contribute touches of caramel and coffee." I really liked it

Tripel Karmeliet was recommended to me by a few people. I liked it, but not as much as the dark beers. "Tripel Karmeliet is a golden Belgian beer with high alcohol by volume, brewed by Brouwerij Bosteels in Buggenhout, Belgium. It was first brewed in 1996 and uses three cereals: wheat, oats and barley. This beer is still brewed according to an authentic beer recipe from 1679 derived from the old Carmelite convent in Dendermonde. The beer is then bottle-conditioned."

Very nice. "Red My Lips" is brewed by the Brussels Beer Project. From their website: "It's a collaborative project using co-creation to become more innovative & daring and to bring fresh air into a sometimes too conservative Belgian craft brewing scene!" Check them out here: www.beerproject.be

Interesting and spicy. I rather liked it. De Koninck's "Lost in Spice" beer (which is like an Aussie pronunciation of an old sci fi TV series). From their website: "Our Master Brewer, Sven was completely Lost in Spice when instead of hops, he loaded our hop gun with spices. At which point dry hopping made way for “dry spicing” with ginger and cardamom. In addition, orange peel, coriander and lemon were also added to the mash tun, resulting in a refreshing, pithy blond beer of 5.2% alcohol with fruity notes of citrus and a spicy aftertaste."

This Apple Lambic tasted almost like cider. I looked up what lambic means: "Lambic is a type of beer brewed in the Pajottenland region of Belgium southwest of Brussels and in Brussels itself at the Cantillon Brewery. Lambic differs from most other beers in that it is fermented through exposure to wild yeasts and bacteria native to the Zenne valley, as opposed to exposure to carefully cultivated strains of brewer's yeast. This process gives the beer its distinctive flavour: dry, vinous, and cidery, usually with a sour aftertaste."
