The watchers

While coming through the Spiti Valley in North India, we stopped at a temporary ( summer only) dhaba or roadside eatery. This area is deep under snow for some months of the year, so there are not permanent buildings in some of these remote stops. Two very interested dogs were watching closely every mouthful we ate. It was cold, and 4000 meters in elevation!
Keep well everyone. Sending hugs to my friends!

Winter in Kalpa, Himachal Pradesh. Up in the mountains in the gorge of the mighty Sutlej River. Slate is the common roofing material on the traditional houses there.
Wishing all a memorably wonderful Friday and weekend…..keep well. May the sun shine strong.
Thanks for any visits and comments…truly appreciated…big hugs
Key Gompa (monastery)

Kye Gompa is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery located on top of a hill at an altitude of 4,166 metres above sea level, close to the Spiti River, in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh, Lahaul and Spiti district, India. It is the biggest monastery of Spiti Valley and a religious training centre for lamas.
I spent a couple of weeks along this river valley....fascinating high altitude Tibetan communities. It is very, very remote, and cut off for at least 6 months of the year by high, snow covered passes, close to 5000meters.
Taking the yaks home

In the remote Spiti Valley, at 4300 meters in the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh, India. The yaks are returning home for the night, safe from wolves. Although they are a bit large for snow leopards to tackle, the young can be vulnerable. There is quite a population of snow leopards here, and education has led to a conservation approach among the locals. The landscapes in this remote Buddhist region of India are extraordinary
Young men in Chamba

Chamba is an ancient Hindu kingdom in far North West Himachal Pradesh, India.
It is remote, and very interesting. The narrow cobbled streets are lined with these ancient walls...as behind these young men. You can see the actual skeletons and architecture of the old buildings in their ancient layers.
The road ahead on which we travelled.
