The UNESCO listed Darjeeling Himalaya Toy Train (1880's locomotive) steaming into the Darjeeling Railway Station...down the main street. It is a very narrow gauge mountain railway, taking about 10 hours to ascend from Siliguri and travel 70 kilometers to Darjeeling at around 2000 meters in the Himalayas. A real relic of the British Raj, when Darjeeling was the main Hill Station in India, where people escaped from summer in Calcutta, the then capital of British India

UNESCO listed narrow gauge mountain railway, the "Toy Train" climbs 2000 meters into the Himalaya through a complex system of loops and reverses, often criss-crossing the road. It takes 7-8 hours to travel the 75 km journey. Locomotive built in 1888.
