My husband is fire fighting on Kangaroo Island. He found this burned koala today and organised its rescue. It is believed that 30,000 koalas have died on Kangaroo Island....among untold numbers of other native animals. The rain which is in some areas of Australia has not reached many where fires are burning.

Koala. She has slept all day in this tree, very close to ground level, outside my bedroom window. Close enough to almost touch! I love our wildlife here.
