In Australia, Spring officially commences on 1 September, which also is National Wattle Day. This macro image of Coastal Wattle (Acacia sophorae) is a little larger than reality on my screen.

In Australia, the 1st of September is the beginning of the Spring season and is known as National Wattle Day, because the wattles (our national flower) are flowering. If I'm right with my ID, this is a Sweet Wattle (Acacia suaveolens). We saw these flowers in a National Park, during our recent drive.

If my ID is correct, these are the flowers of the Black Wattle Acacia Mearnsii which is a native to this area. Each flower is only about 1cm across, but they remind me of bursting fireworks (or is that just my imagination :)). Explored.
