These little flowers are about 2 - 2.5cm wide. My plant ID skills let me down with this (I originally identified it as one of the Boronia species) but a friend has kindly corrected me. These grow in sandy areas of the coastal strip around south-eastern Australia.

In Australia, the 1st of September is the beginning of the Spring season and is known as National Wattle Day, because the wattles (our national flower) are flowering. If I'm right with my ID, this is a Sweet Wattle (Acacia suaveolens). We saw these flowers in a National Park, during our recent drive.

Our neighbours' Tibouchina shrub produces the most marvellous display at this time of year. It became an ideal subject while I was playing with an old lens.
