Dry dam

12 Mar 2020 40 60 474
I'm not able to do much photography lately, so this is from a dip into the archives - and my first digital camera. It shows a dam on our former rural property during what became known as the "Millenium Drought" which ran from about 1998 to 2009. The very minimal fence around the dam was needed to stop cattle entering and potentially becoming bogged. It worked well, helped by 10,000V and the cattle stayed out. HFF and best wishes for the weekend, everyone. Explored.

After the mud storm

13 Feb 2019 18 11 532
Strong winds over eastern Australia carried a thick dust storm to our area from inland drought stricken regions. Then, overnight, a cold front brought a passing shower of rain - and we had a mud storm as the dust was caught by the raindrops! This is the result. Uploaded mainly for interest. Explored.

Somewhere out there

Taken at a friend's rural property, in drought at present. Despite appearances the rain still is 'somewhere out there'. Also a couple of the relatively tame local wallabies. Stitched panorama, best viewed large. This is looking northward through the area where the Clarke bushrangers based themselves, back in the 1860s, when they too were 'somewhere out there' and the Special Constables were looking for them. Explored.

Yes, it's colour

10 Aug 2018 43 39 555
There's not a lot of colour to be seen in this foggy, frosty and drought-affected early morning scene from the NSW Southern Tablelands. Best viewed large, maybe while listening to this link. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone. Explored.

All you need is...

For the people in this area, an end to the drought would be their top wish. There already has been a bushfire along the ridge in the distance. For the sake of a musical link, I'll go with the sign. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone.

This train...

Ain't goin' nowhere! Abandoned railway line seen in inland NSW. Here's a musical link . Still travelling for a little while yet. Explored.

In the feeder

09 Jul 2015 12 12 612
That round thing is a feeder, for giving cattle controlled access to those round hay bales on the left. This new calf was able to climb through it. :-) Taken at our former property "Tiabunna" during the drought. HFF!
