Goodbye Judith

06 Aug 2022 30 19 343
I was very saddened to hear on this evening's news of the passing of Judith Durham, a great singer who became famous as part of the group "The Seekers". Here's a link to one of their chart topping songs. This sunset photo was taken on our former rural property and the higher clouds are Lenticular clouds, formed in mountain wind waves.

Coming in low

16 Dec 2021 24 30 297
Taken at our former rural property. This is a Cessna aircraft flying very low indeed to check the power lines. It was literally following the contours of the ground - in the PiP it is seen having "climbed the hill". I was prompted to post this because yesterday I saw a helicopter doing inspections, from a greater height and with an observer equipped with a camera and very long lens - a somewhat safer process. With the weekend almost here, it's Happy Fence Friday and I wish everyone a great weekend.

Farm twilight

I guess it was a burst of nostalgia that led me to viewing old images. I don't believe I've previously posted this panorama, part of the view from our former rural property. Best viewed large.

Sunset on the Shoalhaven

14 Nov 2018 24 24 560
An evening view of the upper Shoalhaven valley, the setting for much of the bushranger story, taken from our former property. View large. In mid-1866, the government appointed three bounty hunters as "Special Constables" to find and apprehend the bushrangers. After operating, supposedly secretly, they proved ineffective and were withdrawn. In September 1866, a second party of four were given "Special Constable" status. Heading to Braidwood, they pretended they were in the area as surveyors and set up camp near the Clarke household. What could possibly go wrong? Explored.

Today I found myself thinking about our former rural property. HFF and best wishes for the weekend, everyone. Explored.

Contented calves

Stitched panorama on our former rural property, "Tiabunna" . Calving was timed for late winter, so the calves would be old enough to digest the new grass that began appearing in September. View large. HFF.
