The replica 15th century Caravel, "Notorious" is currently at anchor in the Clyde River, but I understand it will be docking to enable public inspections this coming weekend. The "Notorious" is a replica 15th century Caravel, the type of ship used by the world explorers of that time. It was great to see her back in the local area: when she visited some years ago I took photos (including the interior) and posted an article on ipernity. A marvellous rarity, she is the only operating caravel replica in the southern hemisphere. UPDATE: I've now downloaded details of the ship from F/B - see PiP.

It was great to see and inspect the replica Portuguese caravel Notorious while it was visiting Batemans Bay, but it was overwhelming to actually see it putting to sea. I was unable to put aside the thought that, in all probability, it would have been nearly 500 years since such a ship had travelled our coast! The second and third photos (in notes) show the ship passing offshore islands.
