32:100 Strangers - Dilek

12 Nov 2015 18 15 908
Continuing with my "100 Strangers" project. I had intended to post this long ago... so much for good intentions! At the Warwick "Jumpers and Jazz" event, chairs and tables were arranged down the street for use by visitors. I found myself sitting opposite this charming lady, who told me that her name is Dilek and she now lives in Brisbane, but she had moved to Australia from Turkey three years ago. She kindly agreed to participate in my project and, should she find this image, my apologies to her for taking so long to post it.

The entertainer

29 Sep 2015 14 13 784
This street entertainer inflated a surgical glove he had strapped on his head, balanced on a unicycle, then asked a lady from the audience to throw some large knives to him. Surprising entertainment at Warwick's "Jumpers and Jazz" festival. Best viewed large.

Groovin' along

Audience member at the street jazz concert, Warwick "Jumpers & Jazzz" festival. I think this musical accompaniment suits. Explored.

Snapping the snapper

Quite a few other photographers were also at the "Jumpers and Jazz" event. Explored.

Knitted picnic

26 Sep 2015 9 9 776
Another from the "Jumpers and Jazz" festival in Warwick. This was at the Visitor and Information Centre. The main shot shows the (knitted) normal picnic kit, the others (in notes) are the surrounding forest and wildlife including a large snake and stick insect. All knitted, you have to admire their perseverance!

Let there be drums

24 Aug 2015 26 16 1040
The Warwick State High School had their own band in "Jumpers and Jazz" - I suspect this very committed drummer is their teacher. Which leads me to this musical link (not what they were playing). Best viewed on black. See my Jumpers and Jazz" album for more images from this event. Explored.

Jazzman

At "Jumpers and Jazz" in Warwick. Saxophones really sound great (IMHO) as this link shows. Second image in note. See my Jumpers and Jazz" album " for more images from this event.

A wooly jumper

With all that wool on display at the "Jumpers and Jazz" festival, I guess it was not surprising to find there also was a demonstration of sheep shearing. HFF.

31:100 Strangers - Monica and the Flea Circus

18 Aug 2015 21 12 1121
Along came a lady with a small barrow (note 1). Stopping, she set out a rope as an arena, opened the barrow's lid, and proceeded to entertain some fascinated children with her Travelling Flea Circus (music link). I asked her if she would mind being included in my "100 strangers" project. She readily agreed and told me that her name was Monica, but she had to be on her way as her little performers were ready for the next show and waiting in their dressing room (the box right foreground note 2). I rather like the pensive moment I caught in note 3. View large. Explored.

30:100 strangers - Knitted Nancy

15 Aug 2015 26 20 1012
Among all the crowds in the street, some people stood out: this lady more than most. I spied her chatting to small children (see notes) and showing them the knitted animals she carries in her knitted bags. She readily agreed to take part in my "100 strangers" project when I asked, and told me that her name is "Knitted Nancy". She is part of the official "Jumpers and Jazz" street theatre and this was her third year at the event. She appeared to be thoroughly enjoying herself. View large. Explored.

A tiny fence

See the inset note for a wider look at the rest of this craftwork creation. It's a tribute to the general honesty of people there that these handmade stuffed toys could be left unattended in the open for over a week! HFF. See my Jumpers and Jazz" album " for the story on these "tree jumpers".

Let's hear it!

12 Aug 2015 15 17 883
Let's take a break from the "jumpers" and have some of the "jazz"! This group was a major attraction and presented public concerts in the main street. Very good too. Best viewed large on black and this compilation has some of their music. Explored.
