A family of these ducks came visiting from the nearby nature reserve. The colour indicates that these are two males. The PiP has an image (at the right) of the female for comparison.

Keas are mountain parrots, found only on the South Island of New Zealand. Details about them are on the sign in the notes. This one was at Arthur's Pass. They are unconcerned being near people.

We found this assortment of waterbirds, including two feral geese, outside Christchurch. Explored.

Yesterday I found myself in unfamiliar photographic territory - as the 'unofficial team photographer' for my grandson's first basketball final (they lost, but weren't disgraced). Indoor sport with reasonably dim lighting does create some interesting challenges! Explored.

We've had about 200mm of rain in the past 36 hours! This musical link is obvious. Explored.

With all that wool on display at the "Jumpers and Jazz" festival, I guess it was not surprising to find there also was a demonstration of sheep shearing. HFF.

Along came a lady with a small barrow (note 1). Stopping, she set out a rope as an arena, opened the barrow's lid, and proceeded to entertain some fascinated children with her Travelling Flea Circus (music link). I asked her if she would mind being included in my "100 strangers" project. She readily agreed and told me that her name was Monica, but she had to be on her way as her little performers were ready for the next show and waiting in their dressing room (the box right foreground note 2). Let's take a break from the "jumpers" and have some of the "jazz"! This group was a major attraction and presented public concerts in the main street. Very good too. Best viewed large on black and this compilation has some of their music. Explored.
