On the morning walk

09 Aug 2024 36 32 207
Every morning my old dog takes me out for a walk. This morning we wandered down this path to the beach (PiP), with the Tollgate Islands in the distance. On the right, the Coastal Wattle is coming into bloom, showing winter is almost over. Happy Fence Friday and have a good weekend, everyone.

Finishing 2022

29 Dec 2022 37 31 242
Wrapping up 2022 with a trip to my local beach. There always are questions! What will the beach look like in a short extra walk over the dune? What will the new year 2023 bring? I'm now likely to be offline for a few days into the new year. Wishing all my ipernity friends a very Happy Fence Friday and a healthy and Happy New Year in 2023.

Summer at the beach

28 Dec 2022 38 21 257
Low tide on my local beach at sunset. The same scene in daylight in the PiP - busy compared to the usual, because of the 'holiday crowds'. The water is delightful at present, the day temperature today about 28 and a light sea breeze.

Great Spring day

11 Sep 2022 30 23 272
Yesterday was just about a perfect Spring day, so I took a stroll down to my local beach to grab a shot of the bench. Then I took the PiP image up the beach in the opposite direction. As is probably obvious, the tide was out. Best viewed large. Happy Bench Monday, everyone, and I hope you have a good week.

A change from snow

24 Jan 2021 24 18 229
A change from my series of old Antarctic images, not to mention the northern winter. This is our local beach this morning, just a few minutes walk from home. Yes, the water was every bit as pleasant as it looks (23C) and the day warm but not too hot (32C). Gee it was tough, but I felt I had to do it for you, my good friends, just so I could bring you this report. :-)

The beach is the place in the current hot weather. Taken with my new mobile phone camera. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone. Explored.

Waiting

01 Jan 2019 24 23 374
Instead of New Year fireworks, people waiting on the beach for them to begin across the bay. This needs to be viewed large on black. Here's my matching musical link. WISHING YOU A HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE.

Next move?

This seems particularly relevant to this Friday 13th (in certain parts of the world). As does this old Australian song from the 1960s, for Sight and Sound. Sorry, I can't find a better link online, this dates from pre-internet days.

Santa on the fire truck

Santa handing out sweets to children on Christmas Day (with his "helpers" collecting donations), from one of the fire trucks operated by our local Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade. Second image in note.

Here comes Santa!

26 Dec 2017 12 7 518
Santa travelling around the streets on Christmas Day, distributing sweets (and collecting donations) on one of the fire trucks operated by our local Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade. As might be imagined, his progress was well announced by wailing sirens. :-)

Taiwan lilies

Growing alongside the beach. They look great, but sadly they're weeds here (also known as Formosa lilies). Best viewed large. Explored.

Community Christmas

22 Dec 2015 32 24 771
Our local community group organised a Christmas concert and picnic beside the beach. Sunset was a special feature: more images in notes. View large. As it's that time of year, here's a link to an Australian Christmas song. Best wishes for a very Merry Christmas , everyone. :-) Explored.

Santa at sea

Cleaning up

01 Mar 2015 12 12 552
Today was the annual "Clean up Australia Day", the 25th. It was started by a round-the-world yachtsman, who was aghast at the amount of rubbish in the oceans - and decided that the best place to start cleaning up rubbish was right at home! The inset shows what our local Landcare group collected from just a few km of local roads, even a kitchen sink! Can't say I like the music, but it's the advert for Landcare: www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZqEB8T6mN4

Community Christmas

21 Dec 2014 16 21 961
Having Christmas in summer has its advantages, such as the beachside Christmas carols organised by our local community association. Late in the afternoon, people arrive to picnic as the sun goes down, while being entertained by a youth group singing Christmas songs. And yes, it would be lacking if Santa didn't arrive. (See notes). Best on black and if you'd care for some musical accompaniment, you might enjoy this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpsXNlarAk8 . I expect I shall be largely off line over coming days, but I shall try to look in to see your images. Season's Greetings, everyone.
