"Twist more to the left"

16 Apr 2014 24 20 1075
A pair of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos, attempting to dismantle my neighbour's weather station. They are inquisitive and can be quite destructive. I chased them away after getting this shot. Explored

These are fairly common down the east coast of Australia. HFF!

Visiting Purple Swamphen

15 Sep 2013 3 7 599
These wander around constantly in our area. My neighbour calls them "Darth Vader Chooks" , though I doubt that's the scientific term. LOL Ignore the 400mm in the EXIF info, I forgot to reset the camera (manual input), this was taken with the 200mm/3.5 RMC Tokina.

The Wonga Wonga is flowering

17 Aug 2013 13 6 764
Blossoms of the Wonga Wonga vine (Pandorea pandorana). The Wonga Wonga is an Australian native vine that now is popular in gardens, not least because of its flowers which are about 20mm long and have been hybridised to give different colours.

New Holland Honeyeaters

These honeyeaters are reasonably common in the SE of Australia, but I don't think I've ever seen as many as near Lake Albert.

One of the many Laughing Kookaburras in the Grampians National Park, kindly posing for its portrait.

New Holland Honeyeater

10 Jun 2013 6 5 777
This New Holland honeyeater was eating nectar from these neighbouring shrubs. I was bemused by the orange patch on its forehead until I realised it is pollen. RMC Tokina 200/3.5 + Kenko X1.4 TC.
