Goodbye Judith

I was very saddened to hear on this evening's news of the passing of Judith Durham, a great singer who became famous as part of the group "The Seekers". Here's a link to one of their chart topping songs. This sunset photo was taken on our former rural property and the higher clouds are Lenticular clouds, formed in mountain wind waves.

I guess it was a burst of nostalgia that led me to viewing old images. I don't believe I've previously posted this panorama, part of the view from our former rural property. Best viewed large.

I didn't push on to the end as it was a bit of a rock scramble. At this stage there also was a little more cloud moving in. Worth viewing large. I once asked a geologist friend about the type of rock similar to this - his response was that it is fubarite. I'll let you look that up. :-))
(I originally had the geological term slightly incorrect, now fixed on the advice of sigwv who is a geologist.).
Sunset on the Shoalhaven

An evening view of the upper Shoalhaven valley, the setting for much of the bushranger story, taken from our former property. View large.
In mid-1866, the government appointed three bounty hunters as "Special Constables" to find and apprehend the bushrangers. After operating, supposedly secretly, they proved ineffective and were withdrawn. In September 1866, a second party of four were given "Special Constable" status. Heading to Braidwood, they pretended they were in the area as surveyors and set up camp near the Clarke household. What could possibly go wrong?

The demanding route up Mt Crozier. Height 109M, way above the surrounding country which is typically only about 45M. :-)

Very nearly the same perspective as my previous landscape. What a difference between weather and seasons! Yes, we do sometimes have snow in Australia. :-) Best viewed on black. Happy fence Friday!

From the left, Mt Coonowrin, Mt Tibrogargan and Mt Beerwah. I'm uncertain of the one on the right. Just north of Brisbane, on a rather hazy day. I'd suggest viewing on black.
