Fred again

My avian friend "Fred" is visiting daily for a feed. Today I was ready, with a new auto-focus macro 50mm lens, so I could take the photos with one hand while doing the feeding. After an appetiser from my hand, we have an agreement that I'll put more in the feeding bowl. Second image in the PiP.

Fred's back

My Crimson Rosella friend Fred (or should it be Frederica?) has resumed visiting in the past few weeks, as winter is nearly past. He/she has me well trained to put out some seed when I'm called (loudly). How do I know it's the same bird? That little horned growth on the top of the beak is the identifier.

Poor old Fred

'Fred' is a wild Crimson Rosella, who has become tame and has trained me to feed him when he arrives and sings for a meal of grains. Unfortunately for him, it's the mating season for birds and he's just too old to compete for a companion - as is shown by the chewed feathers (also those on top of his head, which is why he appears to have a parting). Explored.

A wild Crimson Rosella we have named "Fred" is a regular visitor. He seems grateful for the seeds we provide - particularly in the current drought. This is his portrait, sitting on the feed bowl. View large, maybe while listening to this musical link. Explored.

The wild Crimson Rosella, who we call "Fred", dropped in for a snack of seeds on Christmas Day. Explored.

Feeding Fred

Last year I posted an image of a wild Crimson Rosella which had trained me to bring out some feed when he arrived outside and began to sing. He seems a bit old and worn and we've given him the name of Fred. He's now trained me to hand feed him. (2 images)

Well that's the name I've given this Crimson Rosella who visits almost daily. When he arrives he sings till I feed him some seed - he has trained me. :-) Explored.
