One of the pleasures of Christmas in Australia is that all kinds of fruit have just ripened, such as the lovely fresh cherries in this little bowl. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, with or without the fruit. Among all the carols and other ditties about Rudolph and such on the radio , we no longer hear this item from the brilliant Tom Lehrer, the lyrics seeming more relevant now than ever.

With Christmas in the middle of summer, for many people Australian the cuisine for the special meal of the day has moved from roasts to a cold meal and salad - with prawns usually a key feature.

It looks as if Santa has some laundry on the line in the background, it probably dries faster for him in an Australian summer. :-) Wishing everyone a very Happy Fence Friday and Season's Greetings to all. This musical link still seems appropriate, unfortunately.

Having Christmas in summer has its advantages, such as the beachside Christmas carols organised by our local community association. Late in the afternoon, people arrive to picnic as the sun goes down, while being entertained by a youth group singing Christmas songs. And yes, it would be lacking if Santa didn't arrive.
