Seen in a Sydney park, the birds near the bench are Australian White Ibis , generally known by the more unkind name of "Bin Chickens" because of their scavenging habit in cities. They are found across most of Australia, most commonly in the east. Happy Bench Monday and have a good week,everyone.

Our local community group successfully applied to our shire council for permission to build a community garden in a corner of this park. It has been quite a success for those involved. Cunnamulla is a small country town, so the streets become quiet as the sun goes down. This is in a park in the middle of town. I'll be heading away again for a while, so best wishes everyone and have a Happy Fence Friday.

There are three benches here, which should allow everyone to take a rest. The large trees, I'm fairly sure, are examples of Moreton Bay Figs, a species native to Australfig. Happy Bench Monday and have a good week, everyone.

The view from this bench in Elizabeth Quay in Perth is very pleasant, but what took my interest was the annotation on the stonework alongside - as shown in the PiP. This apparently is a historical reference. The Swan River in Perth is now tidal, but I understand that, until the late 1800s, a rock bar across the entrance limited the water in the river to the outflow from the nearby ranges, so with a relatively dry climate the water level would have normally been much lower in those days. One of what I now learn are called "Picnic Pods" installed by our local council in the riverside park. The area also has been updated with newly planted grass and gardens, so the benches are not accessible for a while. See the water sprinkler operating in the left background. The new Batemans Bay bridge is finally ready for use. I took this image just after crossing on the old bridge, which closed next day.
