Old Citroen in Laos

16 Apr 2020 22 26 442
It's becoming archives time! Looking through my collections, I see that I have left many gaps in my images of Laos. One of the real surprises for me in Luang Prabang was finding this immaculate Citroen Traction, as the monks went past on their early morning walk. I've now seen a recent image of it with a new number "LAO&PR♥UD" in a very enjoyable narrative by ToonSarah, a travel writer on the travellerspoint website.

Around Luang Prabang

A "must do" thing, when visiting Luang Prabang, is to rise early and watch the alms giving and donating parade of hundreds of Buddhist monks through the town. I was fascinated to see this 1950s Citroen and a similar vintage Mercedes, as the monks passed by - with the colonial style buildings this image could well have been taken many years earlier, so I've given it a 'film' look. Just for nibbles

The morning street markets in Luang Prabang are open daily and all about fresh food. You can buy exciting fresh nibbles such as these crickets (see also PiP) - (just fry with a little chilli and other spices). If you wish, while they cook, you could sing along with this. Explored.

Contented calves

Stitched panorama on our former rural property, "Tiabunna" . Calving was timed for late winter, so the calves would be old enough to digest the new grass that began appearing in September. View large. HFF.

Monks Luang Prabang

10 Jun 2013 14 11 701
Every morning, hundreds of Buddhist monks walk the streets of Luang Prabang to gather and distribute alms. With their saffron robes, they make a spectacular sight.
