This shady bench is at a nearby rural cemetery. A stitched panorama, taken from the bench area is in the PiP, showing the entire cemetery which is in two sections with a clear area between. Happy Bench Monday, everyone.

Sunset at St Ives. As it was late winter, I was surprised at the number of surfers (you may need to view large to see them). Explored.

Looking toward the coastal ranges and Braidwood (behind Mt Gillamatong at the left) from our former property, "Tiabunna". When we purchased it, we were unaware of the historical links of the area. The Clarke property (see earlier images) was relatively nearby in the valley just behind and to the right of the hill near the centre (see PiP). In the mid-19th century, this area would have been entirely forested.

Now a convention centre and country retreat, until 1989 Hermitage Hill was the hospital for the inland town of Wellington. This is the Heritage Listed former Main Ward building, some details are: "The Main Ward building, 1903/4, of the old district hospital is a large and impressive building sited on a hill overlooking the town and valley. ....Built ...of local red bricks from the Wellington Kiln, the main block of the hospital is designed in the Federation Queen Ann/Filigree style. Queen Ann elements can be seen in the varied roof shapes, Marseilles patterned roof tiles, terracotta ridge ornamentation, tower, gable facing street, timbered effect in gable, and Filigree elements evident in the substantial iron filigree to the verandah." For some, this Friday is celebrated as halloween. I hope this matches the spooky theme (view on black if you dare. :) HFF. Explored.

Late afternoon view across the inlet entrance toward Gabo Island, some 16km distant. Gabo Island has a lighthouse, built in 1853 following the wreck of the Monumental City. The ship was en-route from Melbourne to Sydney, shortly after becoming the first propellor-driven steamship to cross the Pacific Ocean (from the USA to Australia).
