Autumn's arrived

I've been copying old slides. As our autumn began on 1 March, this image, taken in Canberra many years ago, seemed quite timely with its autumn leaves - not commonly seen where I now live.
Gone Fishin'

On a nice day, why not? At the very least, and however the fishing may be, it's a good way for self-isolation. I had the camera's GPS turned on when taking this and was very pleased to see the location data showed here when the image was loaded. Anyway, here's the obvious musical link.

The National Carillon
14 Jun 2018 |
The National Carillon stands 50 metres tall and holds 55 bells, from 7kg to 6 tonnes. It was a gift from the British government to Australia, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the national capital, Canberra. It was officially opened in April 1970. I rather feel that the bicycle racks were a somewhat later addition. :-)
I'm about to head away for a few weeks from this weekend, so I expect to be an occasional visitor at best. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone.
Over the lake

Commonwealth Avenue Bridge crosses Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra, Australia's capital city. In the distance is the giant flagpole over Parliament House - to give an indication of size, that flag is about as big as a double decker bus!
Some good railings on the bridge, so HFF everyone (though it doesn't feel that way, with the news of iper....).

At the foot of Mt Cook, with the adjacent Hooker Glacier (marked with note) and associated lake. I understand the glacier extended to the photo position only a few years ago, now there's just this little iceberg.

Daybreak adding colour to the mist and fog over Lake Albert - and some pelicans chasing breakfast. (Probably best viewed on black - press 'Z')
Red wattle bird

A Red Wattlebird ( Anthrochaera carunculata ) interrupted from its feast on nectar from the gum blossoms. The name is for the red wattles hanging just below where the ears should be. Tokina RMC 200/3.5 .
Foggy dawn, Lake Albert

As dawn arrived over the lakes, intermittent fog and mist rolled past. (Suggest view on black).
