Off on the catamaran (previous image) to visit the Bay of Islands in New Zealand. A cold front moving through with some showers added interest to the skies.

Another image of cooler weather, for those needing a break from summer - best viewed large. HFF and best wishes for the weekend, everyone. Family health issues are likely to limit my involvement on ipernity, so my apologies if I do not respond to your comments or visit your images - I shall try to do so as far as possible.

The Hurtigruten ships make many stops along the Norwegian coast. Some stops, at larger ports, are for several hours. Other stops, at small coastal centres, are for little more than minutes. We're approaching a quick visit here which Hurtigruten identify as Torvik on their general map, but which on Google Earth is identified as Moltustranda (see map): the little lighthouse on this island makes it quite identifiable. All three images are best viewed large on black. Explored.

The National Carillon stands 50 metres tall and holds 55 bells, from 7kg to 6 tonnes. It was a gift from the British government to Australia, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the national capital, Canberra. It was officially opened in April 1970. I rather feel that the bicycle racks were a somewhat later addition. :-) I'm about to head away for a few weeks from this weekend, so I expect to be an occasional visitor at best. Well, not very far out I must admit. This is on one of the islands in Moreton Bay near Brisbane. We went there on the ferry for a very pleasant lunch at the restaurant where I took this image. Explored.
