A misty morning in Auckland, viewed from a hotel window. The trees in the park are of European origin - as in Australia, the native New Zealand trees are not deciduous. Happy Bench Monday and best wishes for the coming week, everyone.

I've been copying old slides. As our autumn began on 1 March, this image, taken in Canberra many years ago, seemed quite timely with its autumn leaves - not commonly seen where I now live.

Heading back from travels (home soon) and these autumn leaves were striking. There had been others earlier, but not quite as well preserved. The high ISO and shutter speed were to compensate for a bouncing moving vehicle. It's near the end of another week, so I'll wish everyone a Happy Fence Friday and a great weekend to follow.

Australian trees are evergreens and don't show autumn tones. Most deciduous trees have been planted in the cooler mountain areas, so it was a pleasant surprise to find these in their full autumn tonings.

Australia's trees are almost all evergreen, but up in the tablelands there have been plantings of deciduous trees, such as this avenue of Poplars outside Braidwood. They look spectacular as they make the change to their autumn colours. Yes, there's a fence there too, though you'll have to view large and it's still hard to find! :-) HFF everyone and best wishes for the weekend.

Where I live, autumn is defined by which flowers are blooming, rather than by the coloured leaves seen in higher altitudes or latitudes. This is the flower of a frangipanni, partly opening, with other buds behind. LATE ADDITION: I've now added a PiP of a photo I posted some time ago of fully opened frangipanni.
