Some Melbourne suburbs have developed a tradition where streets of houses are decorated with Christmas lights. In turn, this attracts crowds of visitors (the nights are warm) and even ice-cream vans! More images in the PiPs. This is the first Fence Friday since I returned from travels, so I hope I'm excused for posting a Christmas set in the new year. Playing with ISO and a change from my recent snow images! One of several kangaroos seen on the street. At this stage I had to shout "SHOOO" to get it off the road, as the car (headlights from the right) approached.

Best viewed large (see also notes). Looking south with some cloud and lights across the water - a very similar viewpoint to my previous image.

It was just too hard to resist a fairly clear sky (some low cloud at left horizon) and a new moon. This covers about 180 degrees (stitched panorama). The local town throws up some light at the right. Needs to be viewed large. EDIT: I've now edited and replaced this with a different projection.

Merged evening panorama of Brisbane. Not much of a sunset, but the lights made up for it. It's some years since I visited the city and I can't get over how much the buildings have grown - the bridge and City Hall (now lost among the giants) were once the tallest. Best viewed large.
