Another little native violet, currently flowering for spring. These are found on the east coast of Australia from Queensland to Victoria and also in Tasmania. The flowers are about 2cm across.

Our neighbour has a tibouchina tree (apparently called a Princess Flower in some places) which flowers prolifically at this time of year and hangs over our fence. See also PiP.

Native to Brazil, but very popular in Australia, the Jacaranda trees (Jacaranda mimosifolia) put on an excellent flowering in spring to early summer. They are earlier in more tropical climates, but are in full flower here at present.

Our neighbours' Tibouchina shrub produces the most marvellous display at this time of year. It became an ideal subject while I was playing with an old lens.
