Coming in low

Taken at our former rural property. This is a Cessna aircraft flying very low indeed to check the power lines. It was literally following the contours of the ground - in the PiP it is seen having "climbed the hill". I was prompted to post this because yesterday I saw a helicopter doing inspections, from a greater height and with an observer equipped with a camera and very long lens - a somewhat safer process.
With the weekend almost here, it's Happy Fence Friday and I wish everyone a great weekend.

I guess it was a burst of nostalgia that led me to viewing old images. I don't believe I've previously posted this panorama, part of the view from our former rural property. Best viewed large.
Young calf

Lately, when seeing young calves in our nearby rural areas, I've been reminded that July and August was the calving season on our former rural property. Sometimes people ask and yes , I do miss our animals! Hence this photo from the archives.

Dry dam

I'm not able to do much photography lately, so this is from a dip into the archives - and my first digital camera. It shows a dam on our former rural property during what became known as the "Millenium Drought" which ran from about 1998 to 2009. The very minimal fence around the dam was needed to stop cattle entering and potentially becoming bogged. It worked well, helped by 10,000V and the cattle stayed out. HFF and best wishes for the weekend, everyone.

Taken long ago on our rural property with my first digital camera. This very young calf has managed to walk through the wire fence behind it, but has finally reached an impassable barrier. HFF.
Here's a musical link.

Stitched panorama on our former rural property, "Tiabunna" . Calving was timed for late winter, so the calves would be old enough to digest the new grass that began appearing in September. View large. HFF.
In the feeder

That round thing is a feeder, for giving cattle controlled access to those round hay bales on the left. This new calf was able to climb through it. :-) Taken at our former property "Tiabunna" during the drought. HFF!

Very nearly the same perspective as my previous landscape. What a difference between weather and seasons! Yes, we do sometimes have snow in Australia. :-) Best viewed on black. Happy fence Friday!

Ever wondered where I picked up my online ID of "Tiabunna"? The letterbox for our former rural property gives the answer. This was at the 'main road' (behind the camera), the house was still 4km from here on the road you see. :-) Happy Fence Friday for the first time in 2015.
Wind farm

I think it's time I posted another mono shot. Wind farms seem to be either "love them" or "hate them". These are in South Australia
