Ocean views

A picnic spot with a view. Happy Bench Monday and have a great week, everyone.

Farm twilight

11 Dec 2021 26 22 247
I guess it was a burst of nostalgia that led me to viewing old images. I don't believe I've previously posted this panorama, part of the view from our former rural property. Best viewed large.

Bench with a view

A privately built bench with an impressive view from the escarpment. HBM and best wishes for the coming week, everyone.

Ocean view

30 Jul 2020 22 16 277
The lookout alongside the old cemetery gives great ocean views (also PiP), even in bad weather. I note (centre image) the ocean is stained by floodwaters from the adjacent Moruya River, following a deluge of rain. View large (click image). HFF, stay safe everyone and have a great weekend.

From the lighthouse

17 Jan 2019 39 29 433
The view from the Montague Island lighthouse. This stitched panorama looks north across the island and shows the two different types of geology - granite nearby and basalt on the more distant section. The tern colony (previous images) is visible on the adjacent rocky areas. Definitely one to view large. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone.

Clarkes lookout

25 Oct 2018 24 23 433
Back to my bushranger series. This is a view into the Araluen Valley, the richest of the NSW alluvial goldfields of the 1860s. The only road out led up this steep range, where Clarke's Lookout gained its name from the Clarke brothers and their gang of bushrangers. This was a favourite place for them to watch and wait to ambush coaches coming up from the valley. :-) Best viewed large. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone. Explored.

The lookout

19 Jul 2018 37 30 527
The cantilevered Forest Sky Pier lookout, near Coffs Harbour. Other images in notes. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone.

This way to the view

Looking along the walkway to the Forest Sky Pier lookout. HFF.

The view

Stitched panorama of the view from the lookout, across Coffs Harbour and the coast. One to view large.

In the highlands

03 Feb 2017 25 19 547
It was quite remarkable, far in the Laos highlands, to visit a hilltop restaurant - another image in a note. This was part of the scene from the viewing platform. HFF and best wishes for the weekend, everyone.

Watching the snow

21 Jul 2016 24 23 475
Watching from the verandah of the guesthouse, as the snow came through when we visited the Blue Mountains recently. For all those people up north having a hot summer. The snow is easier to see if viewed large. HFF.

Flying home

17 Mar 2016 23 21 697
Dawn breaking over the Southern Alps in New Zealand, as we leave on an early flight. For a musical link, this is the obvious choice.

Loo with a view

20 Nov 2015 30 61 917
After this past week, let's smile for Friday and make it a HFF! It's arrived here, but in other parts of the world it's still 19 November, which I'm told is "World Toilet Day". Here's my salute to that (with music if you wish) . HFF everyone. Explored.

Lock Rear Canopy First

Rising on a thermal in the ASK 21 glider near Boonah, after being towed up from the airfield by a Cessna (see rather badly taken inset image). Explored.

Aerial Mawson

29 Oct 2012 2 2 512
From an old slide. I was fortunate to have a trip over Mawson in one of the helicopters carried by the Nella Dan. This is taken roughly toward north, with the station area in the lower right on the shores of Horseshoe Harbour. The dotted lines on the snow at lower left are the doglines.

View from Mt Twintops

28 Aug 2012 434
From an old 1966 slide. Looking down on our tractors, caravans, and the tracks we left as we arrived. This was our first base camp on the field trip. (Suggest viewing on black).

Over Halls Gap from the Grampians

10 Jul 2013 5 3 609
Like many Australian mountain areas, the Grampians rise abruptly from the surrounding flat terrain.

Across the Grampians
