4CV Muster and silos

One of the trips as part of the Renault 4CV Register's Muster gathering, was to the painted silos at Colbinabbin. If I can organise myself adequately, I'll have more images of the silos tomorrow. In the foreground is a Renault Florids, with another behind to the left, while at right is a row of Renault 4CVs.
Of course, we mustn't forget the bench, so as I head for my bed late on a Sunday evening, I'll wish everyone a Happy Bench Monday and a good week to follow.

While I was in Perth, a friend there arranged a meeting of Perth members of the Renault 4CV Register of Australia, which began with the Renault 4CV (at right) and now also encompasses all the derivatives of the 4CV - including those in the PiPs. In this photo, next left is an early (round headlight) R10, then a brightly coloured Dauphine and a blue 4CV, with an R4L completing the line.

A current model Alpine A110 made quite a contrast with the Renault R16 (from the early 1970s) alongside. Photo taken at the Canberra French Car Day.

At Easter every two years, Australia's Renault 4CV Register holds a national "Muster". Originally the Register was only for the little 4CVs, such as the one in the foreground of this image, but it since has taken in the later derivatives, such as the Renault 8 Gordini which is the second car in this shot.
These images were taken at this year's gathering. I'm usually fully involved, but this year made only an overnight visit. More images from the gathering in the PiPs.

This was a country general store which opened in the 1880s when Tingha was beginning to thrive as a tin mining town. It operated until 1998, when the local Council purchased it to become a museum - it now is heritage listed and a visit inside really is a "blast from the past" (images to come). It struck me that this image could have been taken back in 1961 (the date of the newest vehicle, the Renault Floride at left), so a b/w treatment seemed appropriate.

Just home from a busy Easter, with a trip of 1,000km each way to the biennial Renault 4CV Muster, the national gathering in Australia of owners of the Renault 4CV and its derivatives such as the Floride/Caravelle and R8/R10. It's essentially a great social occasion and I should add that some travel much further than we did!

Were they wanting the background of their selfie to be a red umbrella or the classic Renault 4CVs? Maybe they wanted the fence in the rain - in which case, HFF everyone!

View large. Mount Panorama is (locally, at least) one of Australia's most famous motor racing circuits, located just outside Bathurst where we were holding our Renault gathering (see earlier images). We had to do a lap! There's quite a climb involved (see PiPs and link above), so somehow I doubt our little cars threatened the lap record. :-) The Renault Alpine A310 in the foreground may have done better. HFF, everyone - plenty of fence choices in this series.

At the top of the Mount_Panorama racing circuit , we gathered all the cars in a small parking area alongside the track, for some photos. From here the track descends to the right in some steep bends, before reaching the main straight. HFF.

This section of the Mount_Panorama racing circuit is known as Mountain Straight and is where the steep climb (some 175M/570ft) up the mountain begins. Quick, be ready to go back a gear!

The much-loved Citroen 2CV or "deux chevaux" is often affectionately known as the "tin snail". This row of 2CVs and variants was at the Brisbane French Car Day. If you can spare a few minutes for this musical link you'll see many more images of the huge variety.

The Citroen DS (often known as the Deesse or Goddess) appeared 60 years ago - technically far in advance of any other car of the time. At the Queensland French Car Day, the Citroen enthusiasts arranged a mass gathering (see also note).
