The tour bus took us for a drive on "90 Mile Beach", a long gently sloping beach of firm sand which opens as an official road (60km/hr limit) when the tide drops. The bus even takes a run in the shallow edge water and later other traffic passes - see PiPs.

I travelled on this Scania bus (see also PiPs) on the most northern leg of my New Zealand tour. The driver indicated that its suspension had been updated for limited off-road use. The stray light reflections were an unexpected addition to the image.

The Murrays coach on which I returned from Sydney. I asked the driver about it and was told it is a BCI. Since returning home I have found they are a Perth (Australia) company.

While heading south from Pakse, we found ourselves behind this wagon, apparently carrying local tourists to Wat Phu, which also was our destination. I guess maybe I've taken road safety too seriously for too long, but what struck me was the way the passengers travelled, including free standing on the rear of the wagon or tucked into brackets on the rear sides. The PiP shows us all arriving at Wat Phu. I think the passenger in the skirt had moved inside by then ...

On our trips to Europe, it seems that, inevitably, whatever we're looking for is covered in scaffolding. I keep thinking of doing a photo book on the "Great Scaffolding of Europe". :-) I won't claim this link as one of my favourites, but it matches. Explored.
