this c14 vaulted undercroft lies underneath the east end of the south aisle. now set up as a chapel, it was probably a charnel house, being without any sign of original altar or piscina.

this c14 vaulted undercroft lies underneath the east end of the south aisle. now set up as a chapel with one of those horribly mass produced statues of our lady of walsingham ( as in: I went on pilgrimage and all I brought you back is this virgin made in korea : honestly, are there no artists around here ? ) it was probably a charnel house, being without any sign of original altar or piscina.

originating as a charnel chapel rebuilt in this collegiate form in 1316, from when date the foiled occuli, walls, turrets etc., the upper tracery and porch dating from c.1450
