ship model made by french napoleonic prisoners' of war c.1805 from bone. generally such models were made for sale by the prisoners: in this case the model was a gift to sir james mcgrigor in thanks for his medical treatment of both staff and inmates at dartmoor gaol. sir james later founded the royal army medical corps. the model is in aberdeen maritime museum.
