memorial to sir andrew riccard, 1672, attrib. to bushnell, a sculptor who always reminds me of alfred gilbert in his egotistic erratic brilliance ; when he was good he was superb, but often his work fails to catch fire. it's like he couldn't believe he could make a mistake, and soldiers on with works when he should have started afresh. this may have looked fine as a maquette, but I feel is rather a failure.
