since redundancy this church is not marked as such on many maps; google is little help here, and it's off a b-road, down a dead end farm track to the hall, then up an overgrown footpath to the graveyard, well hidden by trees until the last moment. even then, the lack of tower or belfry now makes it far from obvious, and it seems that for the church authorities it is a question of out of sight, out of mind. about time something was done before the building falls down. nave ?c14, chancel given good new windows in the c16. the porch looks c19, and the belfry has been demolished.

the roof at the west end of the nave is ceiled where the timber belfry once stood. this end of the church is all modern brick outside; surely if the church was sold for residential use there should be freedom to fenestrate or even remove this wall entirely. better usable than a heap of rubble. if norman sutton can be sold, why not this?

view west, showing the cambered tie beams with king posts with four struts, and a now rare tympanum above the chancel entrance , probably early c16. victorian tiles cover the chancel floor.

this seems to be the remains of the c18 altar rail, now at the west end of this gutted redundant church.

off the beaten track and well hidden by trees until the last moment is this redundant church. nave obviously rebuilt in the c19, chancel given good new windows in the c16. the porch looks c19 too, and the belfry has been demolished. why should this not be sold for residential use ? better this than sutton, which deserves better.

the chancel windows are c16 brick, with the odd fragment of original glass remaining. c19 altar rails remain, and an aumbry in the east wall close to the remains of a piscina in the south. victorian quarry tiles cover the floor. really, some use should be found to save this church: it could be made into a residence if the north walls were underpinned, and the modern west wall opened up or glazed. anything would be better than the collapse that the church authorities seem happy with.
