saxon panel of c.780 found at larling, south norfolk. it shows the roman myth of romulus and remus suckled by a wolf, a motif used by king aethelberht on his coins. the king was murdered in 794 and became a saint, the church at larling bears his dedication, so this may have come from an allied cult object or book in the church there.

this base of an c8 cross is dedicated to ovin, and came from haddenham. the roman lettering dates it rather too late for it to refer to etheldreda's late c7 steward
